Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Rendok Labs LLC, a California limited liability company (“Rendok Labs,” “we,” “us”), covering your use of the Fortivus mobile app and related services (“Fortivus” or “the Service”).

By creating an account or using Fortivus, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree with them, don't use the Service.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and is part of this agreement.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Fortivus. The Service is built for adult men working through adult subject matter — relationships, marriage, conflict, fatherhood, divorce. It is not designed or intended for minors.

By using Fortivus you represent that you are 18 or older and legally able to enter into this agreement.

3. Your account

You're responsible for:

• Keeping your login credentials confidential.
• Everything that happens under your account.
• Giving us accurate information when you sign up.
• Telling us promptly at joel@rendoklabs.com if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.

Don't share your account. Don't let someone else use it. One account per person.

4. Subscriptions and payment

Fortivus offers paid subscriptions and one-time purchases that unlock additional coaching capacity and features. Pricing and what's included are shown in the app before you buy.

Auto-renewal terms

Purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. By subscribing, you acknowledge:

• Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Your subscription automatically renews unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price of the plan you selected.
• You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time by going to your Apple ID Account Settings → Subscriptions after purchase.
• Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Canceling stops the next renewal. It does not retroactively refund the period you're currently in, and you keep access until that period ends.

Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple, and all refunds are handled by Apple under their App Store policies. Rendok Labs does not process payments and cannot issue refunds directly. To request one, use Apple's “Report a Problem” flow at reportaproblem.apple.com.

If something went genuinely wrong on our end, email joel@rendoklabs.com — we can't refund you, but we can often make it right another way.

Price changes

We may change subscription pricing. If we do, the change applies to your next billing period, not the current one, and we'll give you notice with enough time to cancel first.

5. What Fortivus is — and what it is not

Read this section carefully. It is the most important one in this document.

Forge and Flint are AI-powered coaching tools designed to support your personal growth. They are not licensed therapists, counselors, doctors, medical professionals, lawyers, or financial advisors. Nothing they say constitutes medical, mental health, legal, or financial advice. Fortivus is not a substitute for professional help when you need it.

Some specifics that follow from that:

• Forge and Flint are language models. They generate text based on patterns. They can be confidently, fluently wrong. They can misread your situation. Treat their output as a prompt for your own thinking, not as an authority.
• No professional relationship is created by using Fortivus. Nothing here is therapy, and no therapist-client, doctor-patient, or attorney-client relationship exists between you and Rendok Labs.
• The guide is educational. Foundations of a Grounded Man reflects a point of view about how to live. It is not clinical guidance and it is not tailored to your circumstances.
• Decisions are yours. If you're weighing something serious — your marriage, your kids, your health, your finances, a legal matter — talk to a qualified professional. Fortivus is not equipped to be the last word on any of it.

If you are currently working with a therapist, doctor, or other professional, do not stop or change that treatment based on anything Fortivus tells you.

6. Emergencies and crisis situations

Fortivus cannot help you in an emergency, and it is not monitored by a human in real time.

If you are in crisis, thinking about harming yourself or someone else, or facing a medical emergency:

• Call or text 988 — the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (United States), available 24/7.
• Call 911 or your local emergency number.
• Text HOME to 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line.
• Go to your nearest emergency room.

If you are outside the United States, contact your local emergency services or crisis line.

Do not use Fortivus as a substitute for emergency help. Nobody is reading your entries as you write them, and the AI is not capable of recognizing or responding appropriately to an emergency.

7. Your content

You own what you write. Your journal entries, chat messages, imported documents, and everything else you create in Fortivus remain yours. We claim no ownership of it.

To operate the Service, you grant Rendok Labs a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, transmit, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing Fortivus to you — which means storing it in our database, sending it to our AI provider to generate a response, and showing it back to you.

This license is narrow and purposeful. Specifically, we will not:

• Use your content to train AI models, ours or anyone else's.
• Publish, share, or sell your content.
• Use your content in marketing without asking you first and getting a clear yes.

The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that remain in routine backups until they age out.

You are responsible for what you write. Don't upload content you don't have the right to share, and don't paste in other people's confidential information.

8. Our content

The Fortivus app, the Foundations of a Grounded Man guide, the five pillars and fourteen principles, the Forge and Flint personas, the written coaching material, the design, and all Rendok Labs branding are the property of Rendok Labs LLC and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You get a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the app and read the guide for your own personal, non-commercial use, for as long as your account is in good standing.

You may not:

• Copy, reproduce, republish, or redistribute the guide or coaching material.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit any part of the Service.
• Use our content to build a competing product or to train a machine learning model.
• Remove or obscure any copyright or proprietary notice.

Quoting a short passage for personal, non-commercial purposes with attribution is fine.

9. Acceptable use

Don't:

• Use Fortivus for anything illegal, or to plan or facilitate harm to anyone.
• Try to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source of the app.
• Bypass, disable, or interfere with paywalls, usage limits, access codes, or authentication.
• Access another user's account or data, or attempt to.
• Attack the Service — scraping, automated access at scale, denial of service, probing for vulnerabilities, or injecting malicious code.
• Attempt to extract training data, system prompts, or model weights, or manipulate the AI into producing harmful content or bypassing its safety guidelines.
• Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your affiliation with Rendok Labs.
• Resell or share your account access.

Fortivus is a private, single-user product — there is no social feed and no way to contact other users — but the prohibition on harassing or threatening anyone through any channel we operate applies regardless.

If you find a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to joel@rendoklabs.com rather than exploiting it. We'll work with you in good faith.

10. Termination

You can leave at any time. Delete your account through the app, or by contacting us. Cancel your subscription separately through your Apple ID settings — deleting your account does not automatically cancel billing.

We can terminate or suspend your account if you materially violate these Terms, use the Service in a way that creates legal risk or harms other users or our infrastructure, or if we're legally required to. Where it's reasonable and appropriate, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix it.

If we terminate your account without cause, we'll refund the unused portion of your current subscription period where we're able to arrange it through Apple.

On termination: your license to use the Service ends, and your content is deleted according to our Privacy Policy. Sections 5, 6, 7 (ownership), 8, 11, 12, and 13 survive termination.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We specifically disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
• AI-generated responses will be accurate, appropriate, or useful for your situation.
• Defects will be corrected, or that the Service is free of harmful components.
• Any particular outcome will result from using Fortivus.

Fortivus depends on third-party services — Apple, our hosting provider, our AI provider. Outages or changes on their side can affect the Service, and that's outside our control.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

Rendok Labs LLC, its members, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, or emotional distress — arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, regardless of the legal theory and even if we've been advised such damages are possible.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid Rendok Labs in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars ($50.00).

Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. Where that's the case, the above applies to the fullest extent the law allows, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Class action waiver. To the extent permitted by law, you and Rendok Labs each agree to bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative proceeding.

Informal resolution first. Before filing anything, email joel@rendoklabs.com describing the problem. Most things can be sorted out directly, and we'd rather do that.

14. General terms

• Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the complete agreement between you and Rendok Labs regarding the Service, superseding any prior understanding.
• Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the unenforceable provision is limited to the minimum extent necessary.
• No waiver. If we don't enforce a provision, that's not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
• Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
• Apple as third-party beneficiary. You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Rendok Labs, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
• Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond reasonable control.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we'll notify you by email or with an in-app notice before it takes effect, and update the “Last Updated” date above.

Continuing to use Fortivus after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms. If you don't accept them, stop using the Service and delete your account.

Thanks for using Fortivus. The point of all this legal language is to be clear about what you're getting and what you're not — so that the actual work, which is yours to do, can happen without confusion about the tool.
